Kompositprodukter started in 1979 as a spin-off from studies and research carried out at The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm regarding reinforcement of machine elements using carbon fibre. During the following years several development projects have been carried out, some of them resulting in products. Beside the composite technology also more conventional thermo plastic based technology and products have been developed, resulting in a product family Hearing Protectors, Visors and hand held tools. Since 1993 all thermo plastic products are produced by Vikmanshyttans Plastfabrik, a subsidiary of Kompositprodukter. An important development at Kompositprodukter concerns electrical High Speed Motors of different types, some models utilizing carbon fibre reinforcement. Application examples of High Speed Motors are drive units for compressors used for supercharging of IC engines, as air modules for fuel cells, as drive units for High Speed Milling Machines. Since 2007 Kompositprodukter is producing the screw elements for JMTECH/HPS twin screw compressors. The twin screw compressors are used to improve output torque of IC engines of performance cars and boats. Main market is US street cars. Recent development at Kompositprodukter of a system for measurement of temperature direct in the combustion chamber of an IC engine is now finalised and a first generation of the system will now be released on the market.
