Ship maintenance and cleaning of windows can be extremly expensive and time consuming. Modern ship design has increased the amount of glazed areas dramaticly. Therefore it has become most important to have an easy accessable cleaning system installed. Passangers paying for window cabins will also request to get a good clear view.

skyconThe Skycon window washing systems are today successfully operating on many modern ships and ferries. The basic idea is to clean the windows by high pressure fresh water with or without detergent and chemicals. Since every ship is different and owners have special demands the design of each system is unique, however we normaly incooperate parts from our earlier experience. So far we have managed to solve every difficult shipside.

Normally a long vertical ramp is used to hold the spraying pipes and it will travel along the shipside. An individual spraying pattern is designed for each ship depending of the pump capacity and the ships design. The systems also allow You to clean windows when the ship is at sea. A normal system cleans 200-400 windows in two hours. When the equipment is not in use the ramp can be swinged up to a horizontal safe parking position. On the largest ships this has also been necessary for the Panama canal passage.

In our design work we also try to consider the design from an aesthetic point of view.

The level of automation can also vary depending of the requirement and we have delivered everything from fully automatic systems to manually operated.

Working platforms are also a part of our systems and the platform uses the ramp as a guide to prevent the effect from wind. The platforms can be manual or electrical all to the clients requirement.

At SKYCON we are very quality conscious and aware of maintenance problems, therefore we only use aluminium and stainless steel in our equipment. Every delivery is supplied with a complete manual.

SKYCON also delivers small hand operated washing ramps covering windows which are difficult to reach like in the stern. We also deliver platforms for maintenance in atriums.
