SE46 started in early 2000 as a result of an urgent need by several security aware customers. At this point in time most of our work was focused around security policy implementation, security design and architecture, assessments and security audits.

Certain organizations we talked to thought that it was intolerable that a trojan software could potentially, if run on the inside of a corporate network, operate freely completely without the organization knowing about it. Even though they had virus scanners in place, a custom written trojan would potentially make all their security software useless.

As we already were focusing on PKI design and implementation and were very impressed with the level of control it provides. Naturally this was to be the foundation of the solutions we developed.
